This is the walk along the oldest part of Barcelona – Gothic Quarter. It is historical heart of the city which gently combines ancient Roman elements of Roman emperor’s Octavian Augustus’ settlements, Medieval narrow streets and magnificent cathedrals and also elements of Gaudi’s and Picasso’s modern. This quarter is considered to be the most preserved architectural ensemble of the Middle Ages in Europe. During the excursion you will get a chance to see ruins of Roman aqueduct, remains of Roman wall, columns of Octavian Augustus’ palace, Jewish quarter, Queen Square, Palacio de la Generalidad (The Palace of the Government of Catalonia), City Hall, Royal Palace, the basilica of Santa Maria del Mar and finally the main attraction – Barcelona Cathedral. Streets of this part of the city are never empty. Groups of tourists and local youth are constantly walking along the streets, vendors temp you to visit different shops and cozy restaurant are always open for those who wish to taste local cuisine.
